Rummy Game
Rummy is the most popular card game played across the world. Many variant Rummy games exist and based on geographical location, Rummy is played accordingly.
Different types of rummy games:
Indian Rummy:Rummy is played accordingly. Common base for all Rummy games is matching similar cards. It can be played between 2 to 6 players. The main objective in most of the Rummy games is, The player need to meld all cards as early as possible by forming valid sets and sequences or to improve his hand by minimizing his score
13 card Rummy:The game of 13 cards Rummy has very clear objectives towards making 3-4 sets of the cards in hand. The sets are further categorized into one set of 4 cards and three individual sets of 3 cards each or one set of 5 cards and two sets of 4 cards each.
Gin Rummy:The main objective of the game is to form valid melds of sets or sequences and try to eliminate deadwood count. Deadwood is the count of unmelded cards which are not in any meld. The player with least deadwood count can go for Knock, where he scores a difference of deadwood count of opponent's. The player whose deadwood count is zero or who goes for a GIN is the winner and get a GIN Bonus
Kalooki Rummy:Kalooki is a card game which is very popular in Jamaica, it is also called as Jamaican Rummy. There are many variants in Kalooki based on the region it is played. Here the European and North American Kalooki have most significance among several versions of Kalooki. It is played between 2 to 5 players, the rules may differ in each version of kalooki. The skill employed in order to win this game is to lay off or meld all your card before your opponent does.
500 Rummy:Rummy 500 is a card game which is derived from Rummy. The scoring in Rummy 500 is different from Rummy, the points are awarded for melded cards and points are lost for unmelded cards. Rummy 500 can be played between 2 to 8 players. When a player goes out, the points for the unmelded cards remaining in the opponents' hand are lost. In this type of Rummy, a player can take more than one card from the discard pile only if he can meld them with the ones in his hand.
Contract Rummy:Contract Rummy is a variant of Rummy game in which player has a contract to meet required melding format. This game is played among 2 to 5 players, and consists of several rounds. A player need to meld the cards in each round as per the contract. Each round will have a different contract, based on which a player need to meld. At the end of final round, the player with least cumulative score is considered as winner.
